Mei Xian Qiu

The Nymph of the River Luo (40″ x 160″)

This is a polyptych of 4 going from left to right, starting with Summer, Fall, Spring, and then Winter, in the manner of a Chinese hand scroll painting. It is hybrid of Picasso’s “Guernica,” and the Chinese poem by prince Caozhi written in the Three Kingdoms Period and related paintings, “The Nymph of the Luo River.” The poem and the paintings by various artists depict the ill fated romance of a human prince and a water nymph because “men and gods must go their separate ways”
