Patricia Steur
The work of the Dutch photorapher Patricia Steur is self-explanatory.
Her black and white photos capture a moment and fix a gaze for eternity.
In her color photos she involves the viewer with her incisive vision. Patricia's celebrity portraits come to life, not only because of the fame of the subjects who she portrays but also because of her unique style. Her work is instantly recognizable.
Patricia has had many national and international exhibitions as well as having published several books.
In 2005 she received the 'Grote Paul' prize, an hommage to the late Dutch photographer Paul Huf. Previous winners of this prize were Anton Corbijn en Erwin Olaf.
In 2002 she had a major exhibition at the Scheepvaart Museum in Amsterdam that attracted 25.000 visitors. This was followed in 2005 by the successful travelling exhibition 'Selected Portraits' which was based on her book of the same name.
In 2007 her first international exhibition took place in New York followed by the exhibition at the prestigious Los Angeles Art Show in January 2009.
Her work is represented in both private and corporate art collections.
Patricia's books include 'Dedicated by Blood' and 'Selected Portaits', as well as 'De Laatste Ridders' and 'Made in Holland'.
At the moment she is working on three new photo books.
Patricia Steur also works for various charities and in November 2007 Bishop Desmond Tutu appointed her 'Goodwill Ambassador of Visual Arts' for the Medical Knowledge Institute, an organization that assists HIV infected pregnant women in Africa. |
