Philip Verbruggen

The first thing that catches the eye in his work is the use of an anthropomorphic strain.
He projects human characteristics in people like clowns, freaks, mercenaries, criminals, strippers and night-revellers. He customises existing statues by painting them and adding elements. These elements are inspired by heraldic art, military emblems, tattoos, relics…In the work of Philip Verbruggen, kitsch has becomes a new artistic language. This language in combination with a high quality finish, 3 dimensional sense and original use of new materials makes his art unique and alive.
